Executive Resume Writing Service Reviews - Why Executive Resume Writing Service Reviews Is Important

Executive Resume Writing Service Reviews - Why Executive Resume Writing Service Reviews Is ImportantExecutive resume writing service reviews can be helpful to help you find a professional resume writer who can make your resume look like a professional one. Many professionals think that if they write their own resume, it will be of the best quality. However, the fact is that many times, this is not true and a writer can be influenced by what they have written on their own resume and how it is perceived by other candidates. Most people know that good candidates often skip using executive resume writing service reviews and hiring consultants in finding their own writers. However, it is not true with all professional writing services. You can do your own research before hiring an executive resume writing service to see which ones are good and which ones are not. When you do find an executive resume writing service that is recommended by others, read some of the past clients that are satisf ied with the service. This will give you a sense of what this writer has accomplished. Additionally, review the samples that they provide. It is important to determine if you want to work with the writer because they have produced something that has stood out to other people in the industry.A lot of candidates simply hire a service because they think they will be able to finish the actual writing job on their own. In the end, they discover that they were wrong because they cannot do the job for themselves. The most experienced and well-known writers know exactly what they need to do to produce a polished and professional resume that is going to be submitted to an employer. There are two things that you should remember when looking for an executive resume writing service. First, it is important to hire a writer who understands the importance of grammar and spelling and how important these are. With an error in grammar or spelling the person who is reading your resume is not going to t ake any notice of it. As a result, the potential client is going to pass over the resume because it was written poorly.Secondly, it is important to know what type of client the writing service is for. In other words, is it going to be for a large corporation that needs an extensive number of resumes, or is it going to be a larger personal company that is simply looking for a short list of names? In many cases, the writing service for a larger company is going to need an executive resume writing service that can produce resumes in a timely manner. The main reason that hiring a professional resume writer is important is because you want someone who can produce a clean, professional executive resume. By knowing which professionals to go to for this service, you will be able to decide whether you are going to hire a new employee or use the same one that you already have. With a professional resume writer, you will be able to save time and money by using a writing service. If you want to i ncrease your chances of getting hired for a position in your organization, it is best to use an executive resume writing service to get your writing done. This is a service that you should pay attention to because it can help you get ahead in your career.

Soon Your Brand Will Be Consumed by The Digital Universe - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Soon Your Brand Will Be Consumed by The Digital Universe - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Typically I dont promote my work at EMC on this blog, but today we are announcing an update to the Digital Universe Study from last year. I was able to attach many social media components to it, such as the social media press release to your right and the YouTube podcast towards the bottom of this post. Also, part of this study is relevant to personal branding, so promoting it on this blog will benefit you and make you think twice before you give someone else your personal information or view a surveillance camera. The Digital Universe is growing FAST! At 281 billion gigabytes (281 exabytes), the digital universe in 2007 was 10% bigger than previously estimated With a compound annual growth rate of almost 60%, the digital universe is growing faster and is projected to be nearly 1.8 zettabytes (1,800 exabytes) in 2011, a 10-fold increase over five years Digital information will follow you to death your shadow is cast Your Digital Shadow, all the digital information generated about the average person on a daily basis â€" now surpasses the amount of digital information individuals actively create themselves. Examples include digital images of you on a surveillance camera and records in banking, brokerage, retail, airline, telephone and medical databases. It is information on web searches and general backup data. It is copies of hospital scans. To calculate the size of your own digital footprint, we have provided you a Personal Digital Footprint Calculator. Executive Quotes Joe Tucci, EMC Chairman, President and CEO “Society is already feeling the early effects of the world’s digital information explosion. Organizations need to plan for the limitless opportunities to use information in new ways and for the challenges of information governance. As people’s digital footprints continue growing, so too will the responsibility of organizations for the privacy, protection, availability and reliability of that information. The burden is on IT departments within organizations to address the risks and compliance rules around information misuse, data leakage and safeguarding against security breaches.” John Gantz, Chief Research Officer and Senior Vice President, IDC “In the updated study, we discovered that only about half of your digital footprint is related to your individual actions â€" taking pictures, sending emails, or making digital voice calls. The other half is what we call the ‘digital shadow’ â€" information about you â€" names in financial records, names on mailing lists, web surfing histories or images taken of you by security cameras in airports or urban centers. For the first time your digital shadow is larger than the digital information you actively create about yourself.” In the below podcast, John Gantz gives a short background on the study, whats changed, while explaining the growth and the impact on individuals, such as the digital shadow (which he defines). Mark Lewis (President Content Management Archiving, EMC) talks about the capacity and storage needs companies must endure in order to manage this information growth. Mark says that your digital shadow will help solve problems and there is potential for society in general, despite cautions and concerns. [youtube=http://youtube.com/watch?v=hDQ5vPU2yXs] How does this all effect our personal brand? The Good: Sure we know information is growing at a rapid pace, but most of this information is held by those other than ourselves. By having a digital shadow, you are able to manage, transfer and capture information faster than you would if it were written in paper form. If this information wasnt already a preset, we would have to enter it everywhere multiple times and be frustrated doing so. Dont you feel power in being able to find information on any topic by simply searching the internet? I think its truly amazing that I can Google your brand and learn about you before I make a connection. If Monster.com didnt store your resume and you had to upload it and fill out a profile every time, would you even bother? I want to go to an ATM, a banker, a doctor, and accountant and feel comfortable knowing that they have my information secure. I cant possibly manage all the information in my life, which is why RSS, blogging and other social media vehicles are so useful, so I think other people having it is a good thing. Also, security cameras are important, especially in airports, where I want to know its safe to fly. The Bad: We want THE RIGHT people to have our information, protect it and send it to us when we need it. When this information falls into the wrong hands, that is when we have to be concerned about privacy, legal and identity issues. These type of stories do happen. Reputation management will always be a vital part of your personal branding efforts. This study revealed that more information is being created about us, then we in fact create. This means that we have to work extra hard to patrol the internet for anything that could cause us harm. If we blog, tweet or share information on the internet, that information can multiple very quickly and we lose control over it. When this happen, our brand appears on other sites, without our permission. I could talk about this forever, but how much do you know about your digital shadow and do you feel it will have a positive or negative impact on your personal brand.

What life would look if we said no to work-life balance (and a nod to Amazon, of course)

What life would look if we said no to work-life balance (and a nod to Amazon, of course) This is a picture from when my oldest son was five years old. I have very few pictures of him at this age. Maybe twenty. Because I was never home. I worked almost 100% of my waking hours. And often I slept only four hours a night. I did not walk him to school. I did not make dinner. I did not put him to bed. My (now-ex) husband did all of that. In exchange for giving up all my family time, I launched a startup (with two, twenty-year-old guys, of course). Do you want to launch a startup and have kids? Thats what it looks like. And you know what? Its fair. Because I had someone elses money, and they made an investment expecting that Id move as fast and work as hard as I possibly could to increase the value of that investment. Do you want to know how I got funded the next  time? The investors remembered that I was willing to do absolutely anything  to keep the company alive. The first time I launched a startup, years before I had kids, the investor had already worked with me. He knew I worked long hours and every weekend and I was able to do three or four times the amount of work regular employees would do. What Im telling you is that I have been one of those people who worked insane hours and put my company before my life. And Im here to tell you that there are people who really do want to do that. We should let them. I know you know people like Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg who want to work all the time. But the article in the New York Times  last weekend about Amazon shows us that its a much more widespread phenomenon than just a few famous billionaires. Amazon has 150,000  employees, and they fire anyone who cannot devote their life to their work. So there are a lot of people willing to devote their life to their work. To get a sense of how extreme Amazon is, just know that  basically people have to be on email at all hours, there are no vacations, and there are no weekends. You are expected to work all the time. There is a ranking system and if you are ranked low, you are out. Which means you are competing against your peers, but you are also ranked on how well you can get along with them. There are lots of people talking about how bad this environment is. But I have to say, I like it. I like the honesty. Amazon lays bare some truths about the workplace that other companies try to cover up. But if we could all be honest about work, we could all make better decisions about what we want for our lives. 1. People should pay a premium for a regular paycheck. If you have ever tried working for yourself, you know that having  a reliable paycheck, no matter what happens each week, is a great feeling. The stability of that paycheck ripples into the rest of your life, enabling stability in many other places. Additionally, you get paid without taking on any risk. There are very few situations where  we can make money without taking risk. Working for someone elses company is one of them. In this way, it makes sense to me that you get paid well, and you get paid reliably, so you need to put the company before your personal life. If you want to give up getting paid well, or you want to give up getting paid reliably, then you can have some of your personal life back. That seems fair. 2. People should stop searching for the holy grail of balance. Its not there. We have known for years that theres no such thing as work-life balance. You can do both at a mediocre level. You can do one poorly and one well. Or you can do an outstanding job at one and not do the other at all. (Please, Im sure someone will say in the comments its possible to do both well. This is not true, because its relative since you dont live in a black hole, and if youre trying to do both well there is someone who is giving up doing one of those things well in order to focus.) Since there is no balance, what about doing work and life sequentially? This is what many all-0r-nothing types do. They train for the Olympics and then they go to college after they compete. Or they work long hours for a decade and then they quit to have kids. Or they travel for five years and then start a career. A sequential life means that you dont give everything up, but you work for a while, then you take a break, then you work. When you work, you work very long hours. When you are not working you are really not working.  How much you like to work will dictate how much time of your life you are working versus how much you are doing non-work. 3. Companies that have A players should be clear about their expectations. Yahoo wont let you work from home. Facebook expects you to work through dinner. Amazon  requires weekend hours every weekend. The reason these companies can make such demands is that A players dont mind doing these things. And if you want to work with A players, you have to comply with those demands, too. Its simply not fair for some people at the company to put the company first and some people to put their home life first. Which was, by the way, the biggest problem I had when I was doing a startup and I was the only one with young kids. For example, the company paid for two full-time nannies so I could travel with no notice. But it felt unfair to the employees who didnt have kids. I felt like I gave up all my time for the company, but when I went to one, single, soccer lesson my co-workers thought  that I divided my attention between family and work while  they did not. Of course people who want to take care of their family and work at the same time should be able to work. But they should not feel entitled  to work with people who will give everything of themselves to the company. 4. Companies should replace  caring about being nice with caring about being fair. Even though Id die before Id work at Amazon right now, I think their policies are fair. I dont see senior management asking anything of people that they are not doing themselves. And of course, anyone who doesnt like the deal that Amazon offers should just quit. I also think Yahoo is fair to say you have to work in the office. After all,  Jacquelien Reses, head of Yahoos human resources,  commutes from NYC to California and leaves three  kids behind. If you are not that devoted to work, dont work at Yahoo. What I really dont like is companies that function like Amazon and Yahoo but pretend they dont. Netflix giving unlimited maternity leave? Please. No one who cares about their career trajectory will be taking that leave. We already know that because few high-performers take the paltry six weeks they get now. Being nice is something thats important if you have slaves. Or indentured servants. Being fair is a much more reasonable goal  when the person has the option  to work elsewhere. 5. More people should quit more of the time. Instead of complaining that companies are not family friendly, how about just quitting? Work to make enough money, then take a break from work. Then work again when you need money. Many entrepreneurs do this. They pretend to want a corporate job, but they really just need money for their next big idea. More people could do this if they were willing to handle a more erratic salary. Just live off less money and then you will need to be involved in the workforce less of the time. Be better at your job and you would make more money faster when you are in the workforce. Today people dont get penalized for quitting to take a break. They get penalized  for not making a difference when they are working. Your resume can show job-hopping and gaps and all the other things that used to be death to a resume. But your resume absolutely needs to show that you  had significant accomplishments when you were working. Part of managing a career like this is hiring someone to write your resume to focus on accomplishments. (Nearly everyone who hires me starts out by saying they didnt really have significant accomplishments in all their jobs. But Im telling you, its never true.) The other part of managing a career like this is accepting more risk. You quit a job when youre exhausted, which feels risky. And you also put your personal life  on the back burner for a short while, which feels risky. But Im not sure there is a better way for us to approach work. And Im sure theres not a more honest way. If I did my life over again, Id still put work first. It was fun and rewarding to do that.  And Id still stop when I had kids. And when I got bored, I ramped up work and, to be honest, sort of ignored my kids. I think I needed to do that to see that I didnt like it. Im not sure how else Id be able to put work on the back burner now. Im not an A player today. And Im not a top-flight mom. Im probably mediocre at both. And I think thats the way I like it. But when my kids are grown, maybe Ill apply to Amazon.

Employability Matters 5 Things to Avoid When Creating Your Resume - CareerAlley

Employability Matters 5 Things to Avoid When Creating Your Resume - CareerAlley We may receive compensation when you click on links to products from our partners. You only get one shot to convince your potential employer that youre the best candidate for the job, so you need to give it all youve got. By understanding they get a couple of hundred resumes sent their way on a daily basis, it goes without saying that you either captivate their attention from the very start or get left behind. No matter what you write, the following 5 things have should not be includedwhen writing a resume: 1. Irrelevant work experiences As any resume crafting expert will tell you, customization is key. Putting it another way, your resume should only contain the work experience thats relevant to the job position youre applying to. If youre targeting an IT company, what good could it possibly do to mention the years youve spent working as a waiter? Maybe you could make a point by mentioning the people skills this has allowed you to develop, but then again how relevant would they be in the given case? Unless youre going to be working in tech support, probably not that much. source 2. Hobbies So youre good at sports. You could probably make a case of how engaging in sports activities has helped you develop a team-centric mentality, but in most cases, your hobbies should be left out. Thats especially true if youre a hardcore gamer; even though the world is slowly starting to realize how eSports is changing the world around us in a good way, sadly, some people still associate it with laziness and a lack of ambition. Make sure that you dont include the wrong information, which is anything which might lead the company to conclude that you are not motivated or qualified to do the job. Review information on how employers decide which applicant to hire before starting work on your resume. Alison Doyle 3. Wordiness The golden rule to follow is that if you can say something by using fewer words, you should definitely do so. It cannot be overstated how important this is; after all, you should never be testing the readers patience. On a similar note, dont be boring. If you want to check out a couple of examples and learn how this looks in practice, head on over to the resume templates book below and get inspired. Last Updated: March 2, 2020 Photo by Braydon Anderson on Unsplash 4.Funny-looking email addresses If your email address is something like [emailprotected], dont even think about including it in your professional resume for obvious reasons. Create a new one if need be, as there are plenty of providers out there that allow you to open one for free. The process should not take more than a couple of minutes to complete. Photo by Marcus dePaula on Unsplash 5. Crazy fonts No matter how unique you believe using some crazy fonts would make you come across, dont do it. Fonts that are too outside of the ordinary (Arial, Times New Roman, etc.) just scream unprofessionalism. Clearly not something you want to be associated with. Besides, sticking to conventional fonts would benefit your resume readability-wise. Most of the focus on resume writing has been about writing your resume. Not much attention has been given to what not to include. There are certain items that could cost you an interview. You need to follow resume etiquette to ensure that you come across as a consummate professional. Tweet This Conclusion Apart from the things you clearly want to avoid, you should also make sure that your resume is cleverly written and that it contains exactly the right type of elements that will convince a potential employer. If you focus on relevant skills, related jobs youve worked in the past, and make everything as factual as it can be, your career success is only a matter of time.

Strengthen This One Thing First Before You Change Careers or Quit Your Job - Kathy Caprino

Strengthen This One Thing First Before You Change Careers or Quit Your Job Part of the series “Accessing the Most Powerful Version of You” As my career coaching work has evolved over the years, I’ve trained my focus on helping mid- to high-level professionals who are at a decisive crossroads in their jobs or careers, and are committed to making the best next move. Most often, these men and women know something critical has to change in their work, but they’re confused as to exactly what needs modification. There’s so much going wrong that it’s hard for them to identify one thing to address first. I’ve seen continually that when we’re deeply unhappy in our work, and experiencing pain, mistreatment, disillusionment and regret about the focus of our careers and the people we’re working with, we often want to run away as far as we can from the pain, to the opposite end of the working world. For example, an HR executive who’s fed up with their toxic leadership desperately wants to chuck it all and start an online lifestyle business. Or a Finance VP wants to stop obsessing about the bottom line and turn to working in the non-profit arena to feel he’s making a meaningful difference in the world, and so on. While these might be the best moves for these individuals, thousands of times it’s not. Instead, unhappy professionals are engaging in what I call the “Pendulum Effect”â€"knee-jerking from the pain and trying to escape their chronic career problems. That often leads them to chuck everything they’ve built and start over completely. I’ve seen (in my own life and hundreds of others) that running away to an entirely new career often doesn’t address or fix the real problemâ€"and that is who you are when you are working. This includes your boundaries, your ego, your way of communicating, how you handle stress, your decision-making process, how you relate to others, how you deal with critique and challenge and so much more. Those elements of your approach to living and working don’t change just because you’ve quit your job or career. They’ll show up again in the new field or job, unless you do the inner and outer work to become someone who is more confident, self-respecting, powerful and impactful and able to stand up calmly and resolutely for yourself. Before you make any changes in your job or your career, it’s critical to address this one thing before you make any moves: the way you are operating in the world. When you do the work to strengthen and grow personally, you elevate yourself and ensure that your career will become more satisfying and aligned with your values. The degree to which you are able to grow and expand yourself to operate at the highest level is what will ensure that you can experience more reward and success in your jobs and professional endeavors. This strengthening process involves closing the seven damaging power gaps that keep professionals from thriving. And elevating yourself to the highest level involves honing what I’ve seen are the nine essential skills for success and happiness in your career. They all involve strengthening who you are and how you show up in the world. You simply cannot have a happy, rewarding and successful career if you are seriously lacking in these skills: Self-Awareness and Emotional Intelligence Communication Skill Building Strong Relationships Decision Making Leadership Advocating and Negotiating Work-Life Balance Boundary Enforcement Career Planning and Management (Here’s more about three of those.) How can we tell if we’re deficient in these skills and need more development to thrive? Below are some prime indicators that these skills need improvement now: If you review this list and feel a bit overwhelmed because you feel many of these skills need development, that’s ok, and there’s good news. It means you have the self-awareness to understand that in order to be happier and more successful, some growth is required. Choose one or two skills from the list above that you feel need the most development, and take proactive measures this month to build these skills. You can do this in many ways, whether it’s taking a leadership training course, working with a coach on your communication style, seeking help from a therapist to address your emotional pain from the past, prioritizing your life outside of work more highly, or deciding how and when you want to negotiate your next raise or promotion. Don’t wait. Take concrete steps now to change how you see yourself and how you interact with the world. This one small step on the path to your growth and expansion can change everything for you.
